Vana - The Amazon Rainforest Spirit of our Shadows. Limited print by artist John Dyer Eden Project Artist in Residence
John Dyer is the artist in residence for the Eden Project in Cornwall and this unique limited edition print of the rainforest is the result of his residency painting with Amazon indian Nixiwaka Yawanawá in the rainforest biome. This intriguing print of the Amazon Rainforest features the Amazon rainforest tribal spirit Vana. A powerful spirit, indicated by the two boa constrictors. Vana herself is in the centre of the print with the energy of the rainforest radiating from her. Macaws, spiders & butterflies feature throughout the image. Vana is the spirit of our own shadow and she protects us by connecting all living things together in a web of life. An amazing tribal story from the Yawanawá people.
"In British culture shadows are often used as ominous devices, but the realisation that the spirit of one's own shadow is a protector and guardian angel is enlightening. The power of the spirit is indicated by the Boa Constrictors and I have painted with intense colours and contrasts to evoke the rainforest exploding with energy and light from the shadows. My Vana spirit sits at the center of the composition radiating energy and protection. Rainforest butterflies, Macaws and spiders are used throughout the painting that features on this print. The energy that lives in us is the same energy that connects all living things and this energy radiates from the image." John Dyer
