This beautiful painting by acclaimed garden painter John Dyer was painted in the flower garden at Antony House in Cornwall. The painting shows the garden in spring with red and white tulips. A wheelbarrow and gardener create a narrative in the piece and above the hedge, we see the grand architecture of Antony House itself. This historic painting was painted live for an ITV television series 'The Painted Garden'.

During April and May 2005, John was joined by a film crew from ITV who filmed him painting in the garden at Antony House and The Tresco Abbey Gardens. The footage formed part of a new series exploring artists and gardens and was screened in October 2005. The film crew also filmed John's wife Joanne Short and daughter Martha-Lilly Dyer painting in Tresco Abbey Gardens.

"The Painted Garden takes us on a journey through some of the most important gardens in the region and beyond which continue to inspire today. The series also takes the opportunity to celebrate the work of some of the region's most popular artists, such as John Dyer, who has been greatly inspired by the colours and structures of gardens. Joining Chris are artist garden historian Toby Musgrave, art historian Sam Smiles and garden designer Penelope Hobhouse."
