Original Oil Painting on Canvas. The Old Mill House. By British Artist Ted Dyer.
Ted has painted this as it is one of the fondly remembered places near where he lived in Somerset many years ago. It has his wife, Vivien, and son, John Dyer, in it. It is on the Somerset Levels not far from Taunton and depicts an old mill house surrounded by willow trees and a water channel as is typical of the Somerset Levels. These waterways dividing the fields are to help with flooding and are called rhynes ( pronounced Reens ). The sky is a lovely blue with small creamy white clouds drifting across. There are hills behind the house and Vivien and John are wandering along to find a place for the family to have a picnic.
