John Dyer Painting. Love on the Water, Venice. 24 x 24 inches, acrylic on canvas
This very special painting of Venice in Italy by John Dyer has a wonderfully romantic narrative. A couple return to the Gritti Palace by gondola, along the Grand Canal. Venetian and Italian flags flutter in the breeze and egrets, swans, seagulls and pigeons animate the scene. On the right side of the painting we see spectacular Basilica di Santa Maria and beyond that, in the far distance, we see the buildings fronting the lagoon. Gondolas and pleasure boats can be seen bobbing in the canal and the water catches the wonderful colours of the blue Italian sky.
